Hi, had to really look to find a place to write to you. I am an art teacher in Charlotte, NC and was surfing looking for images/inspirations for encaustic painting. You are a great, playful, happy artist. I love your color and your texture (encaustic). I am hoping to do a little encaustic painting myself this summer. Have been debating about working on board as a support, and think I will try that, but also want to use some found object supports. Do you paint on a gessoed surface? If so, did you use oil based gesso?

Hi Kathy
Sorry It took me forever to reply, but I have been away from this blog for a while. I do not gesso any surfaces, I find that the wax clings nicely to the bare wood and I like the way it looks. If you want to start with a white background, give your surface a coat of white wax. I hope this helps!
